Frequently asked questions
What size is an iPhone 16 wallpaper?
iPhone 16 wallpapers should be 1179x2556 pixels (1179 wide by 2556 tall). That is the native resolution of the screen, so the image is shown pixel for pixel with nothing scaled or cropped.
Can I use a different size on an iPhone 16?
Yes, but the system will scale or crop it to fit. An image with a different shape loses its edges when it is filled to the screen, and a smaller image is enlarged and looks softer. Generating at 1179x2556 avoids both.
How do I make a 1179x2556 wallpaper?
Open the PattrnLab generator at 1179x2556, pick a pattern and palette, and download the PNG. It is rendered in your browser at exactly that size, so there is nothing to resize afterwards.
Which other devices use 1179x2556?
A 1179x2556 wallpaper also matches the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15, iPhone 14 Pro.
