Frequently asked questions
What size is a MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021 and later) wallpaper?
MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021 and later) wallpapers should be 3456x2234 pixels (3456 wide by 2234 tall). That is the native resolution of the screen, so the image is shown pixel for pixel with nothing scaled or cropped.
Can I use a different size on a MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021 and later)?
Yes, but the system will scale or crop it to fit. An image with a different shape loses its edges when it is filled to the screen, and a smaller image is enlarged and looks softer. Generating at 3456x2234 avoids both.
How do I make a 3456x2234 wallpaper?
Open the PattrnLab generator at 3456x2234, pick a pattern and palette, and download the PNG. It is rendered in your browser at exactly that size, so there is nothing to resize afterwards.
